Het is een goede traditie dat Salesforce drie keer per jaar een grote update doorvoert op haar platform. Meestal hoef je hier niets voor te doen, maar het is wel aan te raden de nieuwe mogelijkheden te onderzoeken. Wellicht zijn er oplossingen gerealiseerd die voor jouw organisatie van toegevoegde waarde zijn. Vanaf 17 oktober draaien alle organisaties op de Winter ’21 update. Hierbij een kleine greep uit de nieuwe functionaliteiten.
Emailsjablonen
Eindelijk is er een fijne tool beschikbaar voor het bouwen van e-mailsjablonen. Met de Email Template Builder kun je eenvoudig je sjabloon opbouwen uit verschillende componenten. Ten opzichte van de oude situatie krijg je nu veel meer consistentie in je e-mails en meer grip op de lay-out.
Processen automatiseren
Salesforce maakt van Flow Builder steeds meer dé tool voor het automatiseren van processen. Het ziet ernaar uit dat Process Builder en Workflow Rules langzamerhand opgaan in Flow. Flow Builder krijgt in de nieuwe release een intuïtieve interface en extra functies. Zo kun je nu een proces starten bij het verwijderen van een record.
Chatbot
Met de Einstein Bot kun je op een eenvoudige manier een chatfunctie aanbieden op je website. Klanten kunnen bijvoorbeeld zelf een case aanmaken of de status van een bestaande case opvragen.
Snel zoeken
De zoekfunctie is een krachtig hulpmiddel om snel het record te openen waar je naar op zoek bent. Met Einstein Search is de zoekfunctie nog krachtiger geworden. De zoekresultaten zijn gebaseerd op jouw persoonlijke zoekgedrag en dus nog relevanter. Veel klanten hebben deze gratis functie nog niet geactiveerd en dat is een gemiste kans.
Optimalisatietips
Om Salesforce in topconditie te houden is de Optimizer een onmisbaar hulpmiddel. Deze tool geeft inzicht in welke zaken anders of beter ingericht kunnen worden in jouw organisatie.
Rapport als bijlage
De rapportagemodule had al de mogelijkheid je te ‘abonneren’ zodat je periodiek een bepaald rapport krijgt toegezonden. Nieuw is de mogelijkheid om het rapport als bijlage bij de e-mail te voegen.
Aangepaste rapporten
Voor wie werkt met aangepaste rapporttypes is een grote frustratie opgelost. Als je nieuwe velden toevoegt aan objecten, worden ze nu ook toegevoegd aan de betreffende rapporttypes.
Gastgebruiker
Tot slot zien we een belangrijke wijziging in de beveiliging. De zogenaamde ‘Guest User‘ wordt vaak gebruikt om een integratie tot stand te brengen tussen Salesforce en een andere service. Om risico’s te minimaliseren worden de permissies van de Guest User flink ingeperkt. Soms is het nodig actie te ondernemen om te voorkomen dat er problemen ontstaan met de integratie.

Usually you don’t have to do anything for this, but it is advisable to investigate the new possibilities. Perhaps solutions have been realised that are of added value to your organisation. As of 17 October, all organisations are running on the Winter ’21 update. Hereby a small selection of the new functionalities.
Email templates
Finally there is a fine tool available for building email templates. With the Email Template Builder you can easily build your template from different components. Compared to the old situation, you now get much more consistency in your emails and more control over the layout.
Automating processes
Salesforce is making Flow Builder the tool for automating processes. It looks like Process Builder and Workflow Rules are gradually merging into Flow. In the new release, Flow Builder gets an intuitive interface and extra functions. For instance, you can now start a process when deleting a record.
Chatbot
With the Einstein Bot you can easily offer a chat function on your website. For example, customers can create a case themselves or request the status of an existing case.
Quick search
The search function is a powerful tool to quickly open the record you are looking for. With Einstein Search, the search function has become even more powerful. The search results are based on your personal search behaviour and are therefore more relevant. Many customers have not yet activated this free function and that is a missed opportunity.
Optimisation tips
To keep Salesforce in top shape, the Optimizer is an indispensable tool. This tool provides insight into which things can be organised differently or better in your organisation.
Report as attachment
The report module already had the possibility to ‘subscribe’ so that a certain report would be sent to you periodically. New is the possibility to attach the report to the e-mail.
Custom reports
For those working with custom report types, a major frustration has been solved. When you add new fields to objects, they are now also added to the appropriate report types.
Guest user
Finally, we see a significant change in security. The so-called ‘Guest User’ is often used to create an integration between Salesforce and another service. To minimize risk, the permissions of the Guest User are severely restricted. Sometimes it is necessary to take action to prevent problems with the integration.
