ParkinsonNet: Salesforce in the fight against Parkinson's

The challenge

Stef Kaal, Content & Community Manager of ParkinsonNet, indicates that ParkinsonNet previously worked with multiple separate administrations, which hindered the efficiency and effectiveness of care delivery. This made it difficult to effectively share information and promote collaboration, which is essential for quality care for patients with Parkinson's.

The solution

Two years ago, ParkinsonNet chose Salesforce to replace these fragmented administrations with a single integrated system. This decision was made after discovering the versatile capabilities offered by the Salesforce platform.

The benefits of switching to Salesforce were significant. All data came into one place, requiring only one login and taking advantage of Salesforce's ease of use. This made information sharing and collaboration within the network much more efficient."

As Salesforce was being used to full satisfaction, the idea gradually arose to move the existing portal for healthcare providers to Salesforce (Experience Cloud) as well. In doing so, TwoPurpose was chosen because of their proven expertise in that area.

Kick-off during lockdown

We normally start with a full-day kick-off with all stakeholders. During this day, requirements and wishes are explored, the product backlog compiled and key decisions for data and process design are made.

However, this could not go ahead as there was a lockdown. Through some short and intensive online workshops of 1.5 to 2 hours, we managed to do the complete project preparation. Very efficiently and in an extremely good atmosphere, so that afterwards everyone involved was very much looking forward to the actual implementation.

Result

That later leads to the go-live of ParkinsonNet's new robust and scalable community, which optimally facilitates collaboration within their network. For instance, the community includes blogs, meetings, news, a knowledge base with frequently asked questions, a file and message exchange.

Choosing Salesforce and partnering with TwoPurpose has enabled ParkinsonNet to improve their operational efficiency while providing a robust platform for their healthcare providers to collaborate, share knowledge and deliver the best care to people with Parkinson's disease.

The next step

With successful implementation and budgetary scope for further development, ParkinsonNet now plans to implement a new functionality. This functionality, a long-awaited wish of healthcare providers, will allow them to create their own meetings within the system. This is an important step forward in further strengthening the community and quality of care for people with Parkinson's.

"Now that we have stayed within budget, there is room to take the next step. Namely, caregivers have a wish that they can create their own meetings. We are now going to realise that wish!"
