We walk on for Michiel
This week we were faced with great sadness. On Tuesday morning, we heard of the unexpected death of our colleague Michiel de Vries. Michiel was someone who touched people: warm, involved and always focused on what he could do for others. His energy, genuine interest and willingness to do something for others made him special to everyone who knew him.
We miss him.
Michiel also carried a personal story with him in the fight against ALS. A close friend of his lost his life to this disease. That loss did not leave him untouched. From that commitment, Michiel decided to dedicate himself to raising money for research into ALS, so that others would hopefully have a different future perspective.
In the week of his death, the ALS Sunrise Walk will take place. Michiel would walk there himself. As many of you know, he had devoted himself wholeheartedly to it and had even raised the most money for this cause out of all our colleagues.
That he cannot be there himself now is hard to comprehend.
This is precisely why we want to continue the ALS Sunrise Walk in his honour and in his spirit. Because anyone who knew Michiel knows that he would want us to continue. That we continue to fight this disease together and raise as much money as possible for ALS research.
